Benjamin Moore Obituary

Benjamin Taliaferro Moore Jr., 75, left this world to go into the arms of Jesus on Monday, January 25, 2021. He was born July 18, 1945 in New Bern, NC.
Ben (as known by his friends and family), was loved by so many as he was kind, generous, loving, giving, and an honorable man who would do anything for anyone no matter what. He loved his wife dearly and was a wonderful father and was proud of his children, grandchildren and great granddaughter. Ben served in the U.S. Army as a radar technician and on the beach during the Cuban missile crisis. It was during his service that he met his beloved wife of 53+ years, Cheryl Ann Morris in Key West, Florida. Ben also served in the National Guard in the 694th maintenance company in New Bern. Ben began with Carolina Telephone in 1967 as a network switching technician and continued with the phone company for a combined 42 years, retiring in 2008.
Ben was an active member of the community and enjoyed square dancing with his wife with the Tryon Twirlers, round dancing with the Nautical Wheelers, and line dancing. Ben also enjoyed boating, camping, and spending time with family and friends.
Ben was also a deacon at Neuse Forest Presbyterian church and had a passion for the Lord.
Ben is beloved father of three children, Carlene Burke (David), Benjamin "Tal" Moore III (Melody), Christie Hale (Doug), six grandchildren, John Burke (Stephanie), Jacob Burke, Lyndsay Gonzalez (Eugenio), Kaitlyn Moore, Emily Moore, and Rachel Hale. and one great grandchild, Ashlyn Burke. He also is survived by his beloved brother-in-law Bill "Bob" Morris (Rhonda), niece Stacie Hitchens (Dave) and grand niece Piper Hitchens, Robbie Morris (Deanna), and his beloved nephew Johnnie Jones (David Johnson) and his fur baby, Bogie. Ben was loved by so many and there are so many that he loved that it is too numerous to list, but know that you are not forgotten and we are so thankful for you.
Ben is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin T. Moore Sr. and Doris Sanders Moore, his sisters Carol Van Fleet (Ken), and Sandra Toler (Charles Haddock).
A life celebration for Ben will be held at a later date.
