Clare Grady Obituary

THOMASVILLE - Clare Mitchell Grady, 83, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at Thomasville Medical Center. She was born on June 14, 1937 in New Bern, NC to the late Thomas "Buzz" Mitchell, III and Blanche Farrow Mitchell. She was a member of Southgate Baptist Church and attended Charity Baptist Church. She was known as "Grandmama" by everyone and loved making her famous brownies for her family and friends. Clare loved to travel and spend time with her family. She was a former regional secretary for Aflac and served on the Board of Elections in North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Frederick "Bud" Holt, Jr.
Surviving are her two children, Cathy Hill and husband Randy of Thomasville, and William "Bill" Holt and wife Lisa of Alabama; five grandchildren, Danielle Trimnal and husband Charlie "Harvey", Jennifer Hill, Kristyn Holt, Josh Hill, and Nick Holt and wife Jennifer; eleven great-grandchildren, Haley, Brogan, Gabby, Riane, Natalie, Sophie, Huck, Grayson, Cameron, Tyce, and Isaac; and special friends, Warren and Peggy Holt.
A funeral service will be held at the JC Green & Sons Chapel in Thomasville on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 7:00 PM. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Bern, NC on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.jcgreenandsons.com.
