Edward Loyd Obituary

NEW BERN | Mr. Edward O. Loyd, 77, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016. A native of Guilford County, Ed was a longtime resident of New Bern, and was a USAF Veteran during the "Bay of Pigs" era. He retired as a calibration supervisor at USMC Air Station-Cherry Point and was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church. Ed was also a member of St. John's Lodge No. 3 AF & AM Masonic Lodge.
Graveside services with USAF Military Honors, will be 1 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at the Lakeside Chapel in Greenleaf Memorial Park with Rev. Darrell Radford officiating. The family will receive friends following the service and other times at his home. Those wishing to offer words of condolences may visit www.pollockbest.com. Memorials, in Ed's name, may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or www.stjude.org.
Ed is survived by his wife Linda Strickland Loyd; daughter, Lydia Loyd Tart and husband Tim; and his son, Edward C. Loyd, all of New Bern. He also leaves ?behind his grandchildren, Savannah Lea Tart and Benjamin O. Loyd; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
