Zelmyra Fisher Obituary
She was a member of Jones Chapel AME Zion Church and served in the following ministries No. 1 Senior Choir, Deaconess Board (where she is one of the three church members with the elite title of "Emeritus"), Usher Board, Stewardess Board, Missionary Board, Willing Workers Club, Sunday school and a class leader. She and her husband were Guinness Book of World Record holders for having the longest marriage.
Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2012, at Jones Chapel AME Zion Church with the Rev. David Simmons Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadows Cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Franklin I. Fisher of New Bern and Herbert Fisher Jr. of Walla Walla, Wash.; two daughters, Norma Godette of New Bern and Ludie Baker of Washington, D.C; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the residence. Viewing hours are from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday, at Oscar's Mortuary.
