GRANITEVILLE — Mr. Eathion Mayers, 80, of 149 Pine Street in Graniteville, SC entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at his residence. He was born to the late Julious Mayers and the late Rose Devault Mayers on April 18, 1934 in Newberry County, SC.
A resident of New Jersey for over 40 years, he was employed by Allen Industries, the City of Linden, Hyatt Roller Bearings and New Jersey Transit Rail Operations, from which he retired.
After relocating to Graniteville, SC in 1999, he continued his membership at Providence A.M.E Church in Little Mountain, SC.
Mr. Mayers was preceded to heaven by one brother, James Rufus Mayers.
Those who celebrate his life and cherish precious and loving memories are his wife, Maudeine Mayers of the home; son, Tomy Mayers of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Donna Cochran (Dan) of Piscataway, NJ; step-son, Cade Townsend, III of Connecticut; step-daughter, Angela Townsend of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hayward Roger Mayers "Hank" (Regina) of Cleveland, Ohio; Charles Mayers of Elizabeth, NJ and Edward Wheeler of Little Mountain, SC; one sister, Annie Mae Mayers of Montclair, NJ; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Lee Jeff of Graniteville, SC and Bessie Alice Mayers of Elizabeth, NJ and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service and burial will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Providence A.M.E Church in Little Mountain, SC. You may send online condolences to www.wilsonfuneralhomeofnewberry.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home of Newberry.
