Elbert Guy Slice, Jr. passed away in the early morning hours of October 3, 2023, at the age of 65.
A memorial service was held at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel, 123 Columbia Avenue on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life followed at the Slice residence in Chapin.
Bert was a graduate of Chapin High School and the University of South Carolina. He worked for Southern Bell (which later became BellSouth before merging with AT&T) for 44 years. Bert loved being outdoors - playing golf, swimming, boating and fishing on Lake Murray and burning sticks as an excuse to gather around a fire anytime he was with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife of 24 years, Kathleen Parker "K.P." Slice, Bert is survived by his daughters Katie Slice Roush (Kyle) of Little Mountain and Jordan Slice-Metcalfe (Jeremy) of Chapin; his stepchildren he considered his own: John David "J.D." Koesters (Jessica) of Cary, N.C. and Kristine Culver (Chris) of Apex, N.C. His mother, Ann Slice, of Chapin; and his brother David Slice (Pam) of Chapin.
Bert's favorite title of all was Papa to all 6 of his grandchildren. Bert was predeceased by his father, Elbert Guy Slice, Sr.

Rex and I were very saddened to hear of the passing of our friend and classmate. He was a good friend and Rex has many fond memories of time they spent together growing up and playing sports. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bert´s family.

Bert was such a giving person and was always there to lend a hand to someone when he was asked to do so. He was a dedicated, loyal and loving father to his wife Kathy, their children and their grad children! He will certainly be missed by many! Rest in peace Bert!

I temnber Bert as a youngster and teenager as we both went to Chapin Schools. He was always smiling and with a pleasant greeting to others. Love to all he leaves behind!!
