Mary Ellen was my fathers cousin,my babysitter, and lived up the street in New Britain. Bernard was my mother's lawyer followed by Brian after he became a judge. Jack Downes was my father's friend and my godfather. I recall Ted and Vinny and remember Mary Ellen showing my mother her new ring, given to her by "Bun" He and I talked about Yale in the past.

My sincerest condolences to the Gaffney family and friends.
I was so blessed to have known Bernard for the last several years from Arbor Rose. I will miss walking through the door and seeing him read the newspaper by the window. I will miss asking him "May I approach the bencher Honour" to be welcomed and greeted with such a warm smile and heart.

My sincere sympathy to Judge Gaffney´s family. His nickname for me was " meany" instead of Mary as I babysat for SueEllen and Kathy. I will always remember him as the ultimate , humble gentleman.

With so many memories of my childhood time spent with the Gaffney family of which Yale vs Harvard football games were at the top of my favorites, my re-occuring memory was watching Judge Gaffney visit his ailing wife. The love he showed through his actions will always stay with me as an inspiration.
God Bless the Gaffney family.
