Floyd Stepina

BERLIN

Floyd R. Stepina, 74, of Berlin, husband of Cathy (Schroeder) Stepina, passed away Wednesday (October 15, 2025) at his home. A New Britain native and longtime resident, he is son of Eleanor (Broff) Stepina of New Britain and the late Charles G. Stepina. Floyd attended New Britain High School and worked in the Park's Department for the City of New Britain for many years. After retirement, he worked at Hawk's Landing in Southington.

"Pink Floyd" was a lifelong racing fan. From NASCAR, Formula 1, drag racing, and dirt bikes- he loved it all. But his favorite races were those spent with his son. Together they spent many years racing quarter midgets and go-karts.

Family was always his number one priority, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. He loved every holiday, get-together, and family vacation -whether it was fishing on beaches, exploring Las Vegas, or making magical memories at Disney. He cherished his nights out with his daughter to dinners, casinos, and shows.

Besides his wife Cathy and his mother Eleanor, he leaves a son, Jeffrey Stepina and his wife Louise of Bristol; a daughter, Jodi Stepina of Berlin; four grandchildren, Emma, Aiden, Chace of Bristol, and Kamryn of Berlin; three brothers, Charles Stepina Jr. (Sharon) of Avon; Paul Stepina (Cindy) of Rockledge, FL; and Gerry Stepina (Anna) of New Britain; a sister, Bette Boucher (Peter) of Berlin; an uncle, Robert Broff of San Antonio, TX; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend Paul Yarincik. Floyd was predeceased by a brother, William Stepina.

Calling hours are Thursday (October 23, 2025) 4 to 7 PM at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain. Funeral services and burial are private.
