Elizabeth Biro Obituary

Elizabeth Biro
Elizabeth (Schoenagel) Biro, age 92, died peacefully on Feb. 21. She was the eldest of five children born to Alfons and Elizabeth Schoenagel and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy NY. After her marriage in 1950, she resided in California, Alabama and Long Island before permanently settling in Sherman in 1952. She enjoyed seeing new places and fulfilled her dream of visiting both Hawaii and Europe.
While being a homemaker and raising her three children, Betty was employed for nearly 20 years in the sales department at Kimberly Clark Corp in New Milford, CT, retiring in 1987.
Betty enjoyed the company of family and friends. She was an active member of the Sherman Senior Center, participating in exercise and adult education classes, field trips and special holiday dinners.
Betty enjoyed taking ceramics classes, creating many wonderful pieces over the years. She loved plants and gardening so much that every spot in her yard that could support a plant or flower had one.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Carol Corbett of New Milford, CT, son, Larry Biro (Laura) of Oakham, MA, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Biro and daughter, Kathy Baumgardner.
There will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass to celebrate her life will be held on March 17 at 11:00 at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 26 Chestnut Land Rd., New Milford, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of the Sherman Senior Center, PO Box 261, Sherman, CT. 06784.
