Dorothy Ann Morie, age 88 of Talbott, TN passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones at her home.
Dorothy graduated from Maury High School where she played varsity basketball all four years. Her senior year she was team captain and voted most athletic. During her life she loved playing golf with Bill and their good friends, Raymond and Marie Goforth. She loved to bowl where she made many friends especially her best friend Joann Dalton. She was a devoted Army wife where she traveled to many places with Bill and their three sons, her favorite was Hawaii.
Preceded in death by her father and mother, Cleo and Emma Chesteen, and her loving husband of 65 years, Ret. SGM Billy Morie.
She is survived by sons, Michael (Lisa) Morie, Anthony (Lois) Morie and Billy (Gina) Morie; grandchildren, Misty (Jason), Heather (Chase), Lindsey (Michael), Lauren (Avery), Elliott (Lacey), Jarrett, Beth (J.J.), Brooke, Michael (Emily); great grandchildren, Tyler, Brooklynn, Tatum, Chandler, Kynlle Jo, Lyla, Dru, and Beckett, "bonus" grandchildren, Charlie, McKynley, Jaycee and Adalynn.; sisters, Madge Lawrence, Gail (Charles) Gregg and brother, Hudson (Shirley) Chesteen.
Special thanks to Dr. Cooze who always went above and beyond for both Dorothy and Bill not only as their doctor but also a friend, Jennifer Jones NP, who prayed for and took care of her every need, and to her hospice nurse Katie Smith who was an angel here on Earth, and to the whole Amedisys team. Dorothy was our "Queen" she will be missed by all, but forever in our hearts.
Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Farrar Funeral Home, Jefferson City with Rev. Hudson Chesteen officiating. Graveside service will be Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Hills Union Cemetery in Dandridge.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2023 prior to the service at the funeral home.
