Peggy Cates Obituary

Peggy Ann Butler Cates passed away on November 19, 2024.

She was preceded in death by son Gregory Cates, parents Orville and Clara Amalee Butler, brother Wayne Butler, grandparents Ben and Julia Hurst Butler and Daniel and Lucy Wilson Butler.

Survivors are husband Charles Ed Cates, daughter Melanie Cates of Atlanta, brothers Larry (Vickie) Butler of Knoxville and Lonnie Butler of Baneberry, sister-in-law, Ernestine Butler Presnell, of Newport, brother-in-law Harold (Joan) Cates of Newport, nieces Barbara Fine of Newport, Vickie (Rusty) Costner of Alabama, Kim Parton of Knoxville and Rhonda (L.D.) Ottinger of Newport, nephews Terry (Sherry) Butler of Newport, Ben (Jill) Butler of Knoxville and Hal (Carolyn) Cates of Knoxville, along with many cousins. Peggy was a member of First Baptist Church and the Boggan Sunday School Class.

Memorial Celebration of Life was held 2 p.m. Thursday November 21, 2024 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rich Lloyd officiating. The family received friends from 1 p.m. -2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
