Donald Beattie Obituary

Donald Beattie

PORTSMOUTH - Donald "Duck" F. Beattie, 84, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, passed away on, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in Newport Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Annabelle "Sis" (Harvey) Beattie.
Born in Newport's Fifth Ward, he was the son of the late James and Margaret (Dugan) Beattie.
Duck was a sports fanatic you could almost say he was born with a ball in hand. In the 50's he played for De La Salle. Winning numerous trophies and titles. Whether it was the game of baseball, football or basketball he was a sought after player. He continued his passion playing ball for the Army, traveling all over Japan during the Korean Conflict. His Career path after 8 years in the service moved him into selling Insurance for John Hancock and
later opened he's own Real estate office on Broadway. His charm and warm heart touched many people. We will miss him dearly.
Donald leaves his beloved daughter Grace Louise Delanoy and son Donald J. Beattie and his wife Doreen of Middletown, as well as his grandchildren Monique De La Cruz, Ronald Rodrigues , Ashley Rodrigues , Donnie Beattie , Billy Beattie and his great- granddaughter Naveyah Marrocco.
He was the brother of Robert Beattie, Kenneth Beattie, and Margaret "Peggy" Beattie.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Gail Rodrigues and his brother James "Jimmy" Beattie.

What a wonderful man. I was lucky enough to be in his life for the past two years. I will cherish our trips to Dunkin donughts and rides to beach and around the drive. Rip Duckie my love
