Bessie Baker Obituary

VILLA GROVE – Bessie Irene Baker, age 95, of Villa Grove died at 12:21 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at the Arcola Health Care Center, Arcola.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in the Joines Funeral Home, Il. Rt. 130 S. Villa Grove, with the Rev. Jerry Conner officiating. Burial will be in the Hugo Cemetery, Hugo. Visitation will be one hour before the services in the funeral home.

Mrs. Baker was born Sept. 7, 1912, in Cumberland County, a daughter of Thomas and Alice (Yocum) Ray. She married William R. Moore. He died in 1957. She then married Cliston Baker. He died in 1992. Surviving are one daughter, Shirley (John) Dawkins of Murdock; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by two husbands, six brothers and one great-granddaughter. Mrs. Baker worked at the Popular Cafe in Tuscola for many years. She was a member of the Hugo Community Church. Memorials can be made to the Arcola Health Care Center, 422 E. 4th St. Arcola, IL 61910; or to Lincoln Land Hospice.
