SAVOY - Carole Ann Hunter passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday (Sept. 27, 2025).
God's trumpets surely sounded as her husband and hosts of family and friends welcomed her arrival into Heaven!
Carole Ann was born on March 26, 1929, in St. Louis, to Carl O. and Erna A. Bauer. There she lived until coming to and graduating from the University of Illinois. This is where she met her husband of 73 years, David P. Hunter. Together they had four beloved children, David (Barb) of Charleston, Diane of Indiana, Denise (Brook) of Champaign and Dana of Charleston. Carole Ann was blessed with seven grandchildren, Micah, Sierra, Maya, Sage, Hannah, Benjamin and Matthew; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Carson, Avalee, Aslan and Eden; and loving nieces and nephews throughout the country.
Carole Ann and David P. opened and operated Dependable Realty in 1964. Employing, training and mentoring real-estate agents produced high-quality staff and even lifelong friends. Her greatest joy in life was to serve others, and she did so through a multitude of personal, professional and philanthropic means. Among her many talents were things she made by hand. Beautiful sewing and knitting, gorgeous center pieces, delicious meals, decadent desserts, and lovingly written sentiments were among her greatest gifts to others. There was no end to Carole Ann's selfless spirit and impressive poise. She was happiest as a hostess, and this was her proudest trademark. Her Oktoberfests, ladies luncheons, holiday meals, wedding and baby showers and birthday celebrations were well-planned and uniquely crafted, humbling those for whom they were tailored. She was creative, resourceful and "on point" without fail, the living embodiment of grace and etiquette.
Carole Ann was dearly loved by all and loved all dearly. She will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of those who knew her. A celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Church St., Champaign, on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m.
Please consider rekindling an old relationship, serving someone in need, telling another they are loved, or sharing a favorite story in her honor. Carole Ann's children thank you for your devoted friendships with and authentic love for the one they were blessed to call Mother.

I was so fortunate to get to know Carole Ann through two dear friends, and was included in quite a few of the birthday luncheons she hosted. I was always so impressed with her handiwork and attention to details at those events that I would come home and share them with my husband! She was a lovely person inside and out, and I will always be thankful that I got the opportunity to spend time with her.
