SIDNEY - Carole Nussmeyer of Urbana, formerly of Sidney, passed away Thursday (Oct. 16, 2025) at ClarkLindsey, Urbana.
Carole was born on Dec. 15, 1934, in Villa Grove, to Leslie and Charlotte Richmond Vaughn. She graduated from Villa Grove High School and attended Eastern Illinois University.
She married Carl Nussmeyer on Jan. 12, 1954, at the Villa Grove Baptist Church. They were married for 55 years until his death on Aug. 15, 2009. They farmed south of Sidney for 40 years until they moved to Sidney upon their retirement from farming in 1993.
Carole was an active member of the Sidney United Church until her health declined. She belonged to the Women's Fellowship and served in many positions at the church over the years.
She spent her last years at ClarkLindsey in Urbana. She enjoyed family life, reading, crossword puzzles and Facebook.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark; and brother, Douglas Vaughn Sr. of La Porte, Texas.
Survivors include her daughters, Amy Nussmeyer of Tolono and Joy (Joe) Pisula of Savoy; daughter-in-law, Kim Nussmeyer of Divernon; granddaughters, Kam (Ryan) Shick of Marion, Nikki (Horacio) Chavez of Lombard and Kati (John) Kleber of Thompson Station, Tenn.; four great-grandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
A private service will be held. Freese Funeral Home, Sidney, is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorial donations can be made to the Sidney Community Library, 217 S. David St., Sidney, IL 61877.

Praying for all of yall! Aunt Carole was one of a kind and will be greatly missed! She was a wealth of knowledge and I loved listening to her stories. Every time I make meatloaf we have a whole conversation about her because after I made meatloaf for Keith the first time he made me get Aunt Carole“s recipe. Love all yall!

We have loss a very special member of the Nussmeyer family. She had very interesting things to share from years ago. My sons remember her meat loaf and wised they could have it again. My heart goes out to all her family . Rest in peace Aunt Carole, you are suffering no more.
