Cecil duCille Obituary

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – Cecil James duCille, 87, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, in Dewey.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 at Living Word Fellowship, 1202 N. Lombard, in Mahomet, with visitation two hours prior to the service. Mr. Peter Schneider will officiate. Interment will be on Nov. 8 in Fernhill Cemetery in Stewart, Fla.

Cecil was born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies, Sept. 30, 1922. He had seven brothers and one sister. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis M. duCille, on Nov. 23, 2008.

He is survived by four sons, Donavon and his wife Norma, Port St. Lucie, Fla., Lewin and his wife Norma, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Carl, Montego Bay, Jamaica, and Hanson Morand, New York City; 29 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter; as well as nieces and nephews throughout the U.S., Canada and Jamaica. He is also survived by thousands of spiritual children he fathered in the Ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in which he faithfully labored worldwide for more than 60 years.

Cecil graduated from of University of West Indies, with degrees in Agricultural Economics and in Accounting. He was in the first class that graduated from this university. He held the position of Head Accountant for the governmental Department of Agriculture in Jamaica, West Indies, for many years. He and Mavis also owned and taught at a private school in Jamaica.

Cecil was called to the ministry, and commissioned by Jesus Christ as a minister of the Gospel in 1948. Throughout the course of his life, Cecil and Mavis carried the Gospel of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ worldwide, establishing born-again congregations throughout the globe. He ministered throughout the Island of Jamaica for many years. Then in 1969 he was sent by God to the United States to warn the people of God of the destruction that was coming. They resided in Port St. Lucie, Fla., since coming the U.S., and through their ministry, Sonlight Ministries International, they helped establish works throughout Europe, Africa, India and many other countries. Many trips to India and Africa helped build orphanages and encouraged the people of God to continue in the great work of evangelism.

Their work in Africa began in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1987, and today has spread through most of the rest of Africa. Cecil and Mavis traveled tirelessly through the entire world, teaching and preaching wherever the doors would open to receive the revelation that God had given to them.

Mr. duCille was also the editor of the Omega Message, a monthly newsletter distributed globally since 1973. He has authored four books, "The Pattern," a book that describes the spiritual significance of the Tabernacle of Moses, and a three-volume commentary on the book of Revelations titled "Revelation 1, 2, 3." It is one of the most complete and comprehensive writings on the Book of Revelation in existence. It is a verse-by-verse description of the meanings and emphasis of one of the most misunderstood books of the Bible.

After his wife's death last year, he moved to Illinois and was staying with ministry associates when he went home to be with the Lord.

Mr. duCille loved the Lord Jesus Christ with his whole heart and devoted his entire life to service to his King. He had a great love for music, specifically sacred music and the classics. He especially loved Handel's "Messiah." He was extremely proficient in agriculture, astronomy, literature, history, and the Bible.

The Bible, without exception, was his favorite text, and what he called the only blueprint for a successful life. He loved life and demonstrated that continually in his every activity. His service to the Body of Christ throughout the entire world left a legacy of his love for God and his love for God's people. He will be sorely missed and never forgotten as his ministry has touched the lives of four generations.

It is our belief that Bro. Ducille had a burden for Nigeria just before he passed on. May the Lord of the Harvest raise a worthy Laborer that will finish up the assignment. May The Lord keep his family under the warmth he has created until death is swallowed up in victory.

Our Beloved Bro Cec has joined the cloud of witnesses. This should cause the living to re-arrange their priorities in life and know that all that matters is our relationship with God....and labouring in God's own vineyard, and in God's own way

I came in contact with Pa Ducil in the last Holy Convocation he attended in Abuja, Nigeria. His age, strength, and ability to speak for the lord challenged me. There is no barrier or limitation to serving God.

I was transferred from Ibadan to Lagos in 1988. The first Sunday in my new apartment in Lagos while praying for guidance on where to worship because my Ibadan church didnt have a branch in Lagos at the time, I heard praises from the apartment upstairs! It seemed like the answer to my prayers so I quickly went up. My neighbors told me the church they attend had no name and they didnt meet on Sundays! It seemed strange but I honored their invitation to a meeting the following Tuesday with a minister from the U.S. The said minister turned out to be Pa duCille. I was truly agitated by the whole experience but The Lord said IT IS I so I remained. I thank God for sending Pa DuCille to preach the Kingdom message to me the first time I heard it.

Elder Cecil du Cille, came into our lives as family and body of Christ back in 1998, when he visited Kenya together with his wife, mama Marvis and dear Bro. Burt Asbil. We then had a "leaders" conference in one of the city hotels where he engaged the local bishops and other "church leaders" in a dialogue that revealed the rot and folly of systems borrowed from fallen roman culture - aspects detrimental to the Church. He and mama never ceased to bless us as he taught, corrected and/or rebuked us, yet with such love and humility!

HE WAS TO US AND THE BODY OF CHRIST TIMELY SENT to nurture us in the several aspects of the "Way". He was one person that understood us, and found grace to go with us the several extra miles as need arose. My wife, Sister Rachel and I had back in 1996 concluded that we needed a "father" and after fervent prayer, in His time, God heard us and provided one in the person of Brother Cec, who was to mentor us as well.
He was used of God to greatly impact our lives as he taught us the "this and that" of the Walk with Christ! He ably "poured his life for the cause of Christ and the Gospel Ministry".

WE STAND WITH YOU IN HONOURING HIS LIFE WELL LIVED AND TRANSLATION TO GLORY - THE REALM THAT MAKES HIM EVER PRESENT!

Bro Ducille was a wonderful teacher of God's word. The depth to which the beacon of His Ministry to the church was fixed is a deep one.

Pa Ducille's life remains an inspiration to me, evidence that one can actually live a christian life in this present time. He was completely selfless.

Bro Ducille & Sis Mavis were precisely what they preached. Never found them doing or saying anything but he truth. The impact they had on our lives cannot be quantified. Simply because they yeilded themselves to the Spirit of the living God. And by lifting up Jesus higher so many were drawn to them.

Bro Ducille was and is a blessing! An example of a Minister of Christ. A father, a Brother, a Servant of Christ. A man whose life was a whole burnt offerring to his God. A bundle of humility and one worthy of emulation. We thank God for his life. Halleluyah!!!

The first time I listed to bro Ducille's message on tape I was so touched that I wept uncontrollably in response to the touch of the Holy Ghost through the ministry.
And since then I have appreciated Bro. duCille's committement to the message of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Brethren our brother has run the race gracefully may we equally hold forth, occupy for the Lord until He appears unto all.
Thank God for the lives of Bro. duCille and the wife sis. Mavis

My dear friend and brother, I give thanks to our Lord for the encouragement your life has been to us. What you have left us with is a desire for the Holy Spirit to invade, overwhelm and consume our spirit that we might be a habitation for the LORD. As you led we shall continue the good fight.

An epitome of humility in Christ and commitment to the Heavenly calling. A glorious translation into the great cloud of witnesses waiting till they and the rest of us be made complete.
Let us press on in the race to the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus, Amen!
