CLINTON - Cecil Eugene "Sonny" Reynolds, 84, of Weldon passed into his heavenly home on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
Sonny was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Champaign to Cecil and Norma (Orcutt) Reynolds. He was the oldest of four siblings and is survived by the Rev. Ronald (Jeanne) Reynolds of Vandalia, Ohio, Cheryl (Donald) McClain of Urbana and Melinda (Peter) Del Mastro of DeLand.
He is also survived by his children, William (Tamara) Gantz and Debora (David) Huisinga, both of Monticello; four grandchildren, Brandi (Ryan) Arnold of Monticello, Michael (Maleah) Huisinga of McCalla, Ala., Nicholas (Bernice) Huisinga of Vernon Hills and Mitchell Huisinga of St Louis; and three great-grandchildren.
Sonny graduated from Urbana High School in 1958. In his younger years, he was a golf caddy at the Champaign Country Club and worked at the Urbana Airport, where he enjoyed flying airplanes and had a private pilot's license for several years.
For many years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing, and later in life, he spent a lot of his time riding his motorcycle. He was retired from IBEW Local 601 and was a member of the DeWitt County Sportsmans Club and the Farmer City American Legion.
A private service will be held at a later date. Calvert Funeral Home, 201 S. Center St., Clinton, assisted the family with cremation rites.
Memorials may be made to the American Stroke Association or the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Disabled Outdoor Opportunities program.
