NEWMAN - Charlotte Anne Marsh, 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday (March 30, 2025) at the Newman Health Care Center with her husband and family by her side.
Charlotte was born Dec. 16,1928, on a small farm north of Newman, to Clarus Lee and Belva (Lingafelter) Richards. She graduated from Newman High School in 1946 and was the last remaining member of her class. She married Deane Rose on Dec. 7, 1950. They welcomed one son, Richard, into their family in 1958. Deane preceded her in death in October 1976.
Charlotte married Robert (Pete) Marsh on Jan. 26, 1979. They met on a group tour to Hawaii and lovingly shared 46 years together. He survives.
She is also survived by her son, Richard (Amy) Rose of Villa Grove; granddaughters, Kelli (Tony) Snyder of Hindsboro, Sarah (Alex) Mitsdarfer of Savoy and Jessica Rose of Washington, D.C.; great-grandchildren, Eli and Emily Mitsdarfer; sister, Chloe Shipley; along with many cherished nieces and nephews, in-laws and friends.
Charlotte was also preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Virginia Ashbaugh, Eleanor Rose, Wilbur Richards, Estello Lowe, Howard Richards and Nada Lou Dunn.
Charlotte was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church and an active member of the CWF group. She was a devoted follower of Jesus and attended church most every Sunday.
Charlotte worked for the U.S. Postal Service, beginning as a part-time clerk and working her way up to postmaster of the Newman post office. She retired in June 1984 after 30 years of service. After retirement, Charlotte and Pete enjoyed traveling together and spent over 20 winters in Zephyrhills, Fla., enjoying sunshine, activities and special friendships in the Oak Side mobile-home-park community.
Charlotte was a talented artist who was always creating in many different art forms. She was a member of a painting group in Newman, along with quilting, needlework and many crafting projects. She gifted many of her art creations to friends and family over the years.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family. She adored her three granddaughters and enjoyed attending their functions as they grew up and sharing her love of painting and crafting with them.
Visitation will be on Sunday, April 6, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Joines Funeral Home, Newman. Funeral services will be on Monday, April 7, at 10 a.m. at First Christian Church, Newman. Pastor Justin Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Newman Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Newman First Christian Church.
