CHAMPAIGN - Cleo Walter Burke, 79, of Champaign passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at 11:40 a.m. surrounded by his family.
Cleo was born Oct. 5, 1945, in Norfolk, Va. After finishing high school, he worked for JM Jones before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. Upon completing his years of service, he returned to the civilian world working as a meat cutter at IGA.
In his free time, he loved to play golf, hunt, fish and bowl.
Cleo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; their son, Chad (Niki); and grandson, Kyle (fiancée Olivia). He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Wanda Westlund; and stepniece Martha Baker, stepnephew Mark Baker and his children.
Cleo was preceded in death by his mother, father, stepfather and stepsisters.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, at Morgan Memorial Home, Savoy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UI Golf Course Junior Golf Program. Condolences may be offered at morganmemorialhome.com.
