MAHOMET - Dennis G. "Denny" Mulvany, 75, of Mahomet passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025, with his wife, Nancy, by his side.
Born Nov. 6, 1949, in Urbana, Denny was the son of the late Leslie and Lorraine Mulvany.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; brother, Michael Mulvany (Shari) of Springfield; and children, Kirk Mulvany (Kira) of Saint Charles, Mo., Cindy Akins (Bill) of Ottawa, and Jennifer Childress (Bryan) of Wheaton.
Denny was a proud grandfather to Alexa Bedell, Jillian Lewis, Quinn Mulvany, Matt Akins, Emily Akins, Jamie Childress and Jacob Childress; and a proud great-grandfather of six, all of who brought great joy to his life.
Following a fulfilling career in banking at Gibson Federal and 35 years at First Federal in Champaign, Denny retired to enjoy the things he loved most - family, music and sports. In his younger years, he pursued his passion for music as a member of a rock band and later found great camaraderie and joy singing barbershop with the Illini Statesmen and several quartets. He was also a member of the UI Quarterback Club, the Home Builders Association and the Rotary Club.
A lifelong fan of the Fighting Illini, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, Denny could often be found cheering on his favorite teams and sharing in that excitement with those around him.
Above all, Denny will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His warmth, humor and unwavering support for his loved ones will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place, and the family will hold a private service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Marching Illini or the Mahomet Public Library.

I was always proud that we are cousins (my Mom, Maxine Mulvany Brock) was a Mulvany). We had good times in high school and college. I wish we had stayed in touch. Rest in peace cousin Denny.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Nancy, Kirk and family. So many great memories shared at Gibson Federal. A great guy and treasured friend.
