SAVOY - Donna Cochran, 82, of Champaign passed away peacefully on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Donna was born March 28, 1943, in Chicago, the daughter of Jack and Clare Enright. She graduated from MacMurray College in Jacksonville with a major in biology and minor in chemistry. She married Dave Cochran on Jan.24, 1965, in Hammond, Ind.
She was employed as a laboratory technician and research assistant at the beginning of her career. She was an active volunteer for the Committee for Awareness of Responsible Environmental Solutions (CARES).
A Master Gardener through the UI extension program, she believed in the healing nature of plants. Her focus on native plants, river quality and cleanup carried throughout her life. She was interested in and followed Native ideology; she lived with respect and gratitude for the world and all that lives in it.
She strongly believed in female leadership and was the steward of the family genealogy and historical photos. She enjoyed taking many of her own photographs, favoring a documentarian style. She made her family and friends feel special and will be greatly missed by them.
She is survived by her husband, David Cochran; children, Michael and Jacqueline; grandchildren, Odin, Finnegan, Matilda, Harold and Niels; brother Jack; and sisters, Kathleen, Jeanne and Maureen.
