Dorothy Burton Obituary

URBANA - On Wednesday (Oct. 4, 2023), Dorothy Ann (Paris) Burton went to be with her heavenly father.

She was born on Aug. 23, 1946, the daughter of Charles and Norma Paris.

She is survived by four daughters, Kelley Chambers (Michael), Crystal Avant (Carlos), Tonya Burton and Mary Burton. She was also a wonderful grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren; they were her world. She is also survived by her brother, John Paris (Kim) of Ellenton, Fla., and sister, Norma Kite of Rantoul.

If you were ever given the opportunity to meet Dorothy, you would know that she loved everyone and tried to help all those in need. God was first in her life, and her family meant everything to her. Dorothy felt that her mission in life was to help those less fortunate and make their day better. She never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, brother, sister and two nieces.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 710 N. Neil St., Champaign, IL 61820. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Please join her family in sharing memories, photos and videos on her tribute wall at sunsetfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Eastern Illinois Food Bank. She wanted to make sure everyone who was hungry went to sleep with a full stomach.

There will not be another Dorothy Burton in a time where we need kind people like her. I worked with Dorothy at Kmart. She loved her kids and the rest of her family like no other. She will be greatly missed.

What can I say about Dorothy. She was my sister in law of over 37 years. She always gave you a warm greeting, made sure and asked about my family and would even mention them by name. Always said give your mom a hug for me. But not did she love her girls, grams and great grams. They were her life. She´s had a lot of loss in her life and even though sharing a story about one of them she could shed a tear out two she never let it keep her down. I will miss her tremendously. You´ve served your Lord well Dorothy! You can rest in peace now. Your girls will take it from here. You raised them to do just that!
