URBANA - Gil Garside, 91, of Rantoul died Sunday (April 20, 2025) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Gil was born on Feb. 16, 1934, in Miami, a son of George and Mable Whynatt Garside.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Terri; parents; and a brother, Ralph.
He married Terri Gianneschi on March 24, 1981.
Surviving are four children, Gil Garside, Debbie Bosschierter, Lisa Moss and Bill Garside; and two stepchildren, Jeff Gianneschi and Kim Harris. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Gil proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years. He later worked at the Rantoul post office from 1984 to 1995 and at Willow Pond Golf Course. He was active in VFW Post 6750, AmVets, the American Legion and Moose Lodge 1460.
He was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Rantoul.
You could often find Gil on the golf course or in his yard - he took great pride in his yard!
As per Gil's request, there will be no services.
