Jean Flannery Obituary

FARMER CITY - Martha Jean Flannery, 90, passed away Saturday (April 5, 2025) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, with a funeral service at 12:30 p.m., both at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City.

Memorial donations may be made to the Illinois Audobon Society, P.O. Box 2547, Springfield, IL 62708.

Jean was born on Dec. 17, 1934, a daughter of Chester and Elizabeth (Williams) Myers. She married Price Flannery Jr. on Oct. 19, 1957, in Lexington, Ky.

Surviving are one son, Price "Chip" (Chris) Flannery III; daughters, Terrye (Terry Helms) Bailey, Tammy (Mark) Hunt and Janice (Mike) Manion; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeremy) Duke, April (Blake) Warren, Krystal (Alex) Grider, Joshua McMasters, Autumn (Matt) Angel, Chelsea (Lance) Fay, Nicholas (Tory) Flannery, Joseph (Danaza Keys) Flannery, Gunnar (Hayley) Manion and Dalton (Alyssa Appleman) Manion; 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Barbara Ormes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Chester Myers; and son-in-law, Denver Bailey.

Jean was a member of the Farmer City Christian Church. She delivered Meals on Wheels locally for many years and worked as a curator for Farmer City Genealogy. She loved genealogy, and even in her spare time, she would research her own family and close friends. Most of all, Jean loved nature. She loved bird watching, especially hummingbirds, watching butterflies so much that she even planted milkweed and other plants to attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and to go hiking.

Jean was a loving mother, "Grammaw," great-"Grammaw," sister and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
