Jessie Daniel Obituary

HOOPESTON – Jessie B. "Boots" Daniel, 89, of Hoopeston died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Born Jan. 13, 1920, at Albany, Ky., he was the son of Luther and Rose (Riddle) Daniel. He married Ruby Nell Madison on Jan. 25, 1946, at Albany, Ky. She preceded him in death on March 25, 1996.

He is survived by two sons, Jerry (Carolyn) Daniel of Hoopeston and Roy "Ralph" Daniel of Danville; a daughter, Judy Daniel Lee of Hoopeston; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Shorty Daniel of Albany, Ky.; and two sisters, Mary Gibson of Albany, Ky., and Ozell Griffin of New Castle, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Daniel was retired from the John Deere Foundry in Hoopeston.

In his healthier days, Mr. Daniel had belonged to the North Fork Conservation Club, where he enjoyed going fishing. He also liked gardening and playing cards with his friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Daniel will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Home, 309 E. Washington St., Hoopeston, Ill. The Rev. Ann Schwartz will officiate. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Hoopeston Multi Agency, 206 S. First Ave., Hoopeston, IL 60942.
