CHAMPAIGN - Jo Ann Malloch, 89, of Champaign, a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at 5:35 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at ClarkLindsey Green House in Urbana. Her family was by her side.
She was born Jo Ann Eichhorst on Nov. 15, 1934, in Champaign to Paul "Bud" Eichhorst and Marybelle (Claypool) Eichhorst. She graduated from Champaign High School in the Class of 1952 and attended Burnham School of Nursing before marrying the love of her life, George Lee Malloch on June 6, 1953, in Champaign. Together they lived a beautiful life, and we know their reunion in heaven was filled with joy.
To this union they were blessed with one son, Steven (Debra) Malloch, Urbana; and three daughters, Diann (William) Wingler, Urbana, Sally (James) Martinie, Champaign and Beth Aquino, St. Joseph. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 2009; her parents; her sister, Peggy Lou Eichhorst; a daughter-in-law, Christie Hoss Malloch; and a son-in-law, Mark Aquino.
She is survived by her children; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lee (Sandy) Eichhorst, Champaign; a sister, Karen (Phil) Cochrane, Savoy; and many nieces and nephews. All will miss her dearly.
Jo Ann was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Champaign where she participated in the choir, was a past Sunday School teacher, and she was deeply involved in coordinating meals for dinners and special events. She owned and operated Malloch Decorating and specialized in custom draperies and wallpaper where she could work from home and raise her children. She was also active in the Champaign County Home Extension from 1954-2021 where she received acknowledgment of her "Lifetime" Commitment in 2020 making her the third oldest member in the county extension. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports and participate in school, music and dance activities, and she loved watching Illini sports teams.
The family would like to thank both the Windsor of Savoy and ClarkLindsey for their compassionate love and care that they gave to Jo Ann. Per Jo Ann's wishes, there will be no visitation nor funeral services.

Dear Family, Want to send our sorrow for this lovely lady. So many good memories of our families adventures and late nights of card playing, board games, softball games. Overnight stays and sometimes we could get into trouble. She was always so energetic and laughing.
