VILLA GROVE - Judy Alice VanDeVeer, 76, of Villa Grove passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Judy was born on June 8, 1947, in Glasgow, Mont., to Albert William Boston and Ellen Alice Fullerton Boston. After Judy graduated from Unity High School in 1965, she went on to work at Magnavox Co. from 1965 to 1967 and the U.S. Postal Service from 1967 to 2002.
In 1960, Judy met Larry VanDeVeer while he was in the U.S. Air Force. They were married in 1964.
Judy and Larry went on to have three children, Melissa (VanDeVeer) Crutchley, Shyane VanDeVeer and Kristy (VanDeVeer) Cloud. Judy and Larry went on to foster Jose Velazquez, Steve Velazquez and Roy VanDeVeer.
In 2002, Judy retired and spent her time reading, quilting, playing card games and Scrabble and enjoying time at the lakehouse in Mattoon. Most of all, she loved being a grandma.
Judy was predeceased by her father, Albert Boston; her mother, Ellen Fullerton Boston; a brother, Jack Boston; two sisters, Sally Boston Shipp and Carol Boston Stine; and a great-grandson, Forrest Crutchley.
She is survived by a brother, Richard Boston; her husband, Larry VanDeVeer; daughter Melissa (VanDeVeer) Crutchley and her children, Paige Clayton and daughter Sage Clayton and Adam Crutchley and children Grayson and Mina Crutchley; daughter Shyane VanDeVeer and her daughter, Gabriella Agius; daughter Kristy (VanDeVeer) Cloud and son-in-law Neal Cloud and their sons, Matthew and Benjamin Cloud; her foster children, Jose Velazquez, Steve Velazquez and Roy VanDeVeer; and a cat, Sasha.
A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. July 11 at New Beginnings Lutheran Church, Mahomet. There will be a potluck and short service to celebrate Judy's life and Judy and Larry's 60th anniversary.
