Karen A Shipley Tolono - Karen A. Shipley, 68, of Tolono passed away at 5:23 p.m. Monday (Nov. 3, 2025) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, with the Rev. Ken Young officiating. Burial will be in Bailey Memorial Cemetery, Tolono. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Karen was born Sept. 7, 1957, in Urbana, a daughter to Charles and Diane Carico Hulse. She married Kevin Shipley on Jan. 15, 1986, in Urbana; he survives. Also surviving are six children, Wayne (Amanda) Bialeschki, Kent (Raynel) Shipley, Kelly (Curt) Wayne, Brandy (Johann) Koebbe, James Shipley and Kimberly (Jase) Sheets; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Kenny (Eileen) Young, Paula (Ron) Baker and Tammy (Chuck) Edmison. She was preceded in death by her mother, Diane Hulse; two brothers, Ed Young and Charles Hulse Jr.; and her father-in-law, Richard Shipley. She loved being a musician, being a nurse and her grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Fountain of Life Family Fellowship.
