Margaret Casteel Obituary

LONGVIEW - Margaret (Maggie) Carleton Casteel, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Pasadena, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Casteel was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Longview, to James and

Madge (Driver) Carleton. She attended schools in Longview.

She was married to Thomas Casteel of Champaign for 36 years. He proceeded her in death in 1982.

Also proceeding her in death are two sisters, Marion Wilson and Dorothy Jane Hardke, and one niece, Terri Nonman.

She leaves behind a daughter, Lynn Appleby and Chuck of Camargo; a son, Rich Casteel and Carolyn, Rantoul; a daughter, Shelley Napper and Ronnie of Pasadena, Texas; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Jones of Urbana; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Casteel worked as a nurses aide, until obtaining her LVN license in 1964.

She worked in Champaign County Nursing Home for several years before moving to Texas, where she continued to work with the elderly until her retirement at age 74.

Her other greatest joy besides her family was her extended family. She belong to a bowling league and made several lifelong friends traveling to different areas with her

league for tournaments.

Memorial services will be held on Friday Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at Forest Park East, Webster Texas, with interment to follow services.

Donations may be made to The American Cancer Society,

St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or charity of donor's choice.

My deepest sympathy for your family on the loss of Maggie. She was a great lady and I enjoyed bowling on a league with her. I have not bowled in Pasadena for 10 years but I still like to go to the lanes and visit with the Thur. Night Ladies league and visit with Maggie. God Bless.
