CHAMPAIGN - Maria Stack, 95, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Carriage Crossing Senior Living, Champaign.
Maria was born on Dec. 31, 1928, in Waldthurn, Germany, to Anna and Johann Beimler. In 1950, she married John Stack, who was serving in the U.S. Army at the time. Together, they shared over 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2002.
Maria and John started their family in Germany and later moved to Chicago and Downers Grove. After many happy years in Illinois, they retired to Venice, Fla., where Maria continued to enjoy life surrounded by family and friends.
Maria is survived by her three children, John (Geri) Stack of Venice, Fla., Carol Stack (John Schumacher) of Champaign and Bob (Grace) Stack of Naperville. She leaves behind one brother, Joe Beimler.
She was a proud grandmother to Tara, Justin, Ryan (Makinzie) and Adam (Deborah); and she cherished her six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Maria's life was filled with love, warmth and devotion to her family. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength and the joy she brought to those around her.
Her family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Carriage Crossing as well as those dear friends of Carol's, Transitions Hospice and Owens Funeral Home.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Venice, Fla.
