CHAMPAIGN - Nettie Pauline McCormick, 85, of Shelbyville, formerly of Savoy, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, at 9:15 p.m. surrounded by her family.
Born on Sept. 24, 1939, in Corder, Mo., to Edward and Marvel (Morrison) Holthoff. She married Maynard Leon McCormick; he preceded her in death in 2013.
Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Edward (Brenda) Holthoff of Champaign, who passed Jan. 1, 2005, and William Henry (Anthea) Holthoff, who passed in Vietnam on March 21, 1967; as well as several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her children, Robert P. McCormick of Shelbyville, Christina L. McCormick-Rohr of Shelbyville, John L. McCormick of Champaign and Teresa A. McCormick-Mercado of California; grandchildren, Kristen A. Van Uithoven-Owen (Chad) of Wisconsin, Brandon M. Wind of Port Royal, S.C., Devin Rohr-Kroll (David) of Burlington, Iowa, Megan E. Wind of Sullivan and Ryli Wilkerson, Lane Mercado and Roman Mercado, all of California; great-grandchildren, Owen Wind, Wren Yoder of Sullivan and Wyatt Wind, Port Royal. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
She loved animals and nature, especially sharing that love with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Local 149 UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Hall, 1003 N. Dunlap Road, Savoy. She will be layed to rest in a private family ceremony at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Champaign County Humane Society or Shelby County Animal Control & Care Center.
