URBANA - Norma Jane Patterson Giorgio passed away peacefully in her San Diego home on April 25, 2025.
She was born in Boston on April 19, 1938, to her parents, Anna and John Patterson.
She was preceded in death by her brother Bill Patterson and sister Marjorie Patterson.
She is survived by her brother Charles Patterson; sister Dixie Andrews; daughter Grace and son-in-law, Jeff Harshbarger; daughter Mary Ann Giorgio and her partner, Robin Herzog; daughter Christina Giorgio and her partner, Harry Bubbins; and grandson, Nicholas Giorgio.
A registered nurse, Norma served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where she tended to wounded soldiers returning to the U.S. She also worked as a nurse and an aesthetician in California for several decades. Upon retirement, she moved to Urbana, where she lived on and off until 2022. During this time, her red-headed presence dotted Urbana's local establishments, of which Bunny's Tavern was one of her favorites.
She loved spending time with her grandson, Nick, when she visited California to escape the Midwest winters. Always a rolling stone, Norma lived where her daughters lived, all over the country, but she considered Urbana her homebase.
A celebration of life will be held this summer in San Diego.

It's been nearly three months and I miss you so much. We made a video of our sharing your ashes around the garden, the lake, and Bunny's (outdoors of course) as you loved all of those places and they loved you back. You and your loving spirit will always be in my heart, everyday, every week, month, and year to come. <3
