CASEY - Richard Ross Hickox, 82, of Casey, formerly of Moweaqua and Champaign, passed away at 12:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at Casey Health Care Center, Casey.
He was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Casey, the son of Ross Hickox and Uneta Pearl Walden Hickox.
Survivors include his son Leon "Ted" Hickox; daughter, LeAnn J. Hickox of Decatur; and mother of his children, Carla Lanman of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his son Leonard "Kip" Hickox; parents of Casey; and sisters, Peggy Stephen of Westfield and Linda Wiegel of Mahomet.
Richard was a graduate of Casey High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. for four years. Richard is a retired machine operator for BorgWarner, Inc., and Mueller Co. He was also a carpenter. Richard was a member of United Paperworker International Union Decatur Local 7838 and American Legion Post 433 in Sidney. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a Boy Scout leader for six years. Richard enjoyed reading his Bible, was a Christian and attended Sidney United Church faithfully.
There will be no services. Inurnment will be in Restitution Cemetery, rural Clark County, next to his mother.
Memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 433, 212 S. David St., Sidney, IL 61877.
