MONTICELLO - Richard G. "Dick" Stiverson, 83, of Monticello, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Dalrymple officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Dec. 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
Richard was born Jan. 15, 1926, in Monticello, the son of William Ora and Lena (Blacker) Stiverson. He married Minnie L. Helm on Sept. 2, 1944, in Junction City, Kan.
Surviving is his wife, Minnie Stiverson of Monticello; daughters Paula Ainsworth of Moorpark, Calif., and Julia Ferguson of Covington, Ky.; a son, Ron Stiverson of Champaign; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and sister, Betty Wright of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters.
Richard was a retired contractor. He served in the Army during World War II in the field artillery, and was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello.
Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home.

Dear Julia, I have such great memories of working with your dad!!!! Great Guy!!!! I had always thought I'd come to his visitation when the time came but with a house full of company, don't think I'll make it.
