URBANA - Roger F. Flaningam Sr., 88, of Urbana passed away at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born on March 23, 1935, in Champaign, the son of William and Edna Mae (Hoag) Flaningam. He married Cora Moody on March 28, 2006, in Urbana. She passed away on May 10, 2021.
Roger is survived by children, Roger (Gail) Flaningam Jr. of Urbana, Jim (Kathie) Flaningam of Urbana and Shawn (Christine) Flaningam of Champaign; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cora; and brother, Donald Flaningam.
Roger graduated from Urbana High School and enlisted in the Army in 1960. He worked for Local 601 as an electrician until his retirement in April 1997. He enjoyed horses and traveling.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana. Graveside will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana. May Ragland will be officiating. Condolences may be sent to renner-wikoffchapel.com.
