After returning home from the service, he worked at Flex-N-Gate in Urbana and eventually began his own appliance repair service, "Ron's Repair Service," which he operated for 34 years and earned the nickname of Mr. Fix-it. After retiring, he operated Pesotum Hardware for two years before finally retiring.
