PESOTUM - Ronald Eugene Adams, 81, of Pesotum passed away Monday (Dec. 30, 2024) at home.
He was born at home in Villa Grove on March 3, 1943, to Clyde and Angie Adams. He married Theresa Wilhelm on Aug. 10, 1968, at St. Mary's Church, Pesotum.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Theresa Adams; son, Bill (Keri) Adams of Urbana; daughter, Connie (Jeff) Langley of Tolono; three grandchildren, Kody Alagna, Kaleigh Adams and Johanna Langley; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters, Janice (Tom) Roney of Pesotum and Rosalie (Lou) Fuentes of Tolono; a brother, Danny (Vel) Adams of Tolono; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Adams of Bondville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry and Roger; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn.
Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army in December 1965 and served two years, part of the time in Korea, in the DMZ zone working with Hawk missiles. He earned medals for national defense service, good conduct and sharpshooter rifle. He also received the Basic Missileman Badge.
After returning home from the service, he worked at Flex-N-Gate in Urbana and eventually began his own appliance repair service, "Ron's Repair Service," which he operated for 34 years and earned the nickname of Mr. Fix-it. After retiring, he operated Pesotum Hardware for two years before finally retiring.
The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Pesotum, with visitation to follow. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pesotum. Freese Funeral Home, Tolono, is assisting with arrangements.
