URBANA - Rosella Palmisano Draves, 78, of Urbana passed away at home on Monday (Nov. 4, 2024) surrounded by her loving family.
There will be a visitation Saturday, Nov. 9, from noon to 2 p.m. at Owens Funeral Home, 101 N. Elm St., Champaign. Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded.
Rosie was born on Sept. 30, 1946, in Urbana, a daughter of John and Ina (Laroe) Palmisano.
After graduating from high school, she honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. Upon discharge, Rosie returned to her hometown of Urbana and married Floyd Draves. They were married for 23 years before parting ways, although they remain close to this day. After raising her family, Rosie worked at the UI in the parking department for 25 years.
Rosie was blessed to share 15 years with the light of her life, John Grant, until his passing. She enjoyed her retirement years with John on the farm, traveling to Virginia and reading. She also looked forward to her monthly lunches with friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melanee Buck (Billy Powell Jr.) of Danville and Angie (Stu) Gill of Mahomet; five grandchildren, Anthony, Brennan, Lindee, Cassie and Tucker; three great-grandchildren, Maxx, Maizee and Ariah; and her siblings, Evelyn (Howard) Scheib, David (Margy) Palmisano, Johnny Ray (Linda) Palmisano and Steve (Melinda) Palmisano.

Rosie was a great gal. She lived one street over. She would stop by sometimes. Or I might see her when walking around the complex. She was a kind and friendly lady. I´m sorry for the families´ loss. She´s with the Lord now, healthy and happy God bless her loved ones.

Rosie was a beautiful person. Unfortunately her last few years were not pleasant due to her health & she suffered a lot. Now she is at peace & pain free. Mary Merrick's children send our deepest sympathy to your family.

Rosie will be missed dearly by so many, she had a heart of gold, as a friend once you shall always be with Rosie, To Melanee and Angie and your families my heartfelt condolences and many hugs go out to you, I knew Rosie from the time I was 16 and stayed in contact with her and she always stopped by with a big ole smile on her face, I will miss seeing her. She was one of my favorite persons.,She will be missed by many.
