TOLONO - Wendy (Creek) Gooch's incredible life did not end with her death.
Wendy passed away Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2023) at the age of 54, after a courageous battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her loved ones.
Wendy graduated from Unity High School in 1987. She married her high school sweetheart, Jeff Gooch, in 1989. Their journey together led them to create a life they were so incredibly proud of.
Wendy is survived by her three children Lexie (Zebo) Zebe, Dani (Justin) Ault and Seth Gooch.
Wendy's role of "Gigi" was one that brought her immeasurable joy. Anyone who knew her could instantly see how her eyes would light up at the mention of Lillian Ault, Miles Zebe, Theodore Ault, Zoey Zebe and Beckham Ault.
Wendy was preceded in death by her father, Gene Creek, and nephew, Cameron Creek.
She is survived by her mother, Beverly Creek; sister, Cindy (Scott) Hughes; and two brothers, Christopher (Peggy) Creek and Troy (JoAnn) Creek.
Throughout her professional career, she held many different titles. However, for the past 20-plus years, she proudly worked for the University of Illinois. Wendy's creativity knew no bounds, she had a natural talent for crafting and photography. A testament to her beauty could always be found in everything she did.
Wendy was a pillar of support and constant source of strength for her entire family. She considered her family her greatest treasure, and it is her family who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

My heart is filled with sadness for the entire Gooch family. I knew Wendy from High School. We played volleyball and basketball together for 4 years. I was new to Unity High School and Wendy made me feel welcome and that started our friendship in 1983. Even though after high school, I didn´t see much of Wendy throughout the years, I would run in to her from time to time. She is absolutely the sweetest person in the world. She even sent me a condolence card in the mail when my brother passed in Dec 2021. No matter what she was going through, she always thought about others. Her sweet soul will forever be missed, but never forgotten. RIP Wendy

Back in the day, I met Wendy at Christie Clinic. I trained her. Who knew that would be the beginning of a friendship that would span over 30 years.
A while back we were talking about our kids and how cancer had made us want to fight harder so we could see our kids and grandkids grow. I know Wendy fought for her family and friends. She was a beautiful soul. I know she will always be with you all. She is all around you.
My prayers are for healing, peace, comfort and understanding. Sending my love to you all.
