Bertram H. Cochran M.D.

Bertram H. Cochran, M.D., age 87 of Willoughby, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021 at Fairmount Healthcare Center. He was born October 6, 1933 in Rochester, PA to Joseph and Edith Cochran. He graduated from Madison High School and attended The Ohio State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Doctor of Medicine. He served as a physician in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Captain. He was stationed in Seoul, South Korea where he was in charge of an Army Hospital. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he spent several years at the Cleveland Clinic where he served a fellowship in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He then spent over 50 years as a solo medical practitioner in Mentor, Ohio. He was a member of the Lake County Medical Society and the Ohio State Medical Association. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting, photography, and sailing.He is survived by his beloved wife, Myra (Rollinger) Cochran; children, Robert (Renata) Cochran, Brian Cochran, and Jeffrey (Colleen) Cochran; grandchildren, Nicholas Brown, Lauren and Jeffrey Cochran; brother, Thomas (Joan) Cochran; many nieces and nephews; and service dog, Jessie.Bert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Brown; sister, Jo Ann Cochran; step-mother, Elizabeth Cochran; and step-brother, William Bradley.The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 7575 Bellflower Road, Mentor, OH 44060. Burial will follow in Concord Twp.
