Clara Shallies Obituary
Mrs. Shallies had worked as a payroll clerk for Fluid Controls in Mentor for 15 years, retiring in 1983. She was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High school, enjoyed bowling at the former Palisades Freeway Lanes in Mentor and golfing.
Survivors include her sons James E. (Barbara O'Donnell) Schafer and Thomas R. Schafer; grandchildren, Michael and James Schafer and Deborah (Michael) Wubbe, Leon (Angela) Schafer, Jeannie (Dave) Widdowson and Pam (Rob) Jones; 12 great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and her dog, Shadow.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Shallies; daughter, Susan Davis; parents James and Irma Hendra; sisters Carol Tower, Muriel Dapper and Olive Wechter; daughter in law, Margueritte A. Schafer; and son in law, Tom Davis.
A celebration of life will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
Private inurnment will be at a later date at Mentor Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110 or to the Lake Humane Society, 7564-E, Tyler Blvd, Mentor, OH 44060.

Such a wonderful lady. She lived her life to the fullest. Never asking for a thing along the way. I'm so happy and lucky for the time I had with her recently. I know she is happy and at peace. Love you gram.

I will miss our nice long talks we'd have over the phone every few months to catch up on the news.
I called her Ma as she was like a mother to me and always treated me as one of her own children.
