Dorthey Setler Obituary
She was born Dec. 16, 1931, in Smithville, Tenn.
Dorthey retired from Royal Plastics in Mentor. Prior to that, she worked at Grantham Inc. and Neff Perkins.
She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. Dottie enjoyed eating chicken, word search puzzles, the Cash Explosion game show and Wheel of Fortune game show, and country music especially Dolly Parton and CMT.
Survivors include her children, Linda McCormick of Tennessee, Kathy Cantrell of Mentor-on-the-Lake, Carin Hill of Brunswick, Nancy Yates of Mentor-on-the-Lake, and Hollis Simmons of Arizona; special sons, Gary Setler of Fairport Harbor, Doug Setler of Madison, Paul Setler of Painesville, Frank Gray of Painesville and Carlos Oliveras of Hawaii; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding Dorthey in death are her husband, Paul Setler; daughter, Rachel Sowell; grandson, Travis Cantrell; parents, Arthur F. and Effie DeLong; sister, Reba Melton; and brothers, Clyde, Jack, Bill and Brown DeLong.
The funeral service will be 5 p.m. Saturday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

There was not a person my mom met that she didn't consider a friend. My mom loved many and was loved by all. Mom's passing will take awhile to adjust to but my whole family appreciates all that came/posted their condolences. She will be missed by EVERYONE. I LOVE YOU MOM

Many years has passed since Dorthy and I have seen each other, but I have always had a place in my heart for her..I will never forget her..She was like a mother to me and I loved her and her children..I would babysit them every Sat..She will be missed and Loved by so many..RIP my friend, and we shall meet again..

I've known Ms. Dorthey for close to 25 years I'd say and i'm only 30. She was great friends with my mom and grandma. So needless to say she was always around for everything. Cookouts parties or just to stop by, I'm gonna miss her and the way she would react to some of the jokes pulled. she was a one in a million. My prayers to the family she left behind.
