Elizabeth Booher Obituary

Although Alzheimer’s Disease robbed our dear mother of many aspects of her memory, she never forgot her children, her greatest legacy. Bob and wife, Debbie; Betsy and husband, Jim; Bill and wife, Kimberly; Beverly and fiancé, James; Barry and wife, Michelle; and son, Brian.
Her daughter, Barb, preceded her in death by exactly one month. Also never forgotten were her dearest grandchildren, Kristy, Ross, Jeffrey, David, Katrina, Jack, Renee, Ashley, Michael; their spouses; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
After 61 years of marriage, her beloved husband, Frank, remained in her thoughts even after his death in 2008.
Our family wishes to acknowledge Jenny Zele, caregiver, who gave our mother unconditional love and care.
Our dear mother, who lost her challenge with Alzheimer’s, would want us to remember how she lived. Her beautiful smile was imprinted on everyone she met. She was famous for her mustard potato salad, Hungarian balish, and tollhouse cookies.
She spent 28 years loving her most rewarding vocation as librarian for State St. Elementary School.
She was also in retail sales at Carlisle-Allen Department Store and a weight loss advocate and lecturer for Weight Liberation.
Bettye was a member of the Painesville United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in the Women’s Society Rebekah Group. She was an over five gallon blood donor, an associate member of the Retired Teacher’s Association, and a PTA member.
The family invites you to visiting hours Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH.Bettye’s memory will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at 1:30 p.m. at the Painesville United Methodist Church, 71 N. Park Place, Painesville, OH.
The family suggests donations to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 34900 Chardon Rd., Suite 105, Willoughby Hills, OH, 44094. Their team members stood by her side for over a year with the utmost love and care.

To the Booher Family-
Both Gary and I send on our wonderful thoughts and memories of your mom. My mom worked with her for many years at State Street Elementary School. We always found her full of excitement for all the children, parents, and staff she served. I just remember her hustle and bustle as she walked through the halls always trying to get things done.

During the time that I was principal of State Street Elementary School, Bettye served as our librarian. Not only was she an excellent one she was always willing to assist with school events that is not typical of a librarian to do. I will always remember her laughter, smile and enjoyment she had doing this...especially during the holidays. I extend my sincere condolences to the Booher family in your loss. May you find comfort in the memories and love you have for your mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
