John Sarosy Obituary

John W. Sarosy, age 76 of Painesville, died on Monday, September 12, 2022 at David Simpson Hospice House. He was born on October 12, 1945 in Painesville to the late John and Virginia (nee: Lybarger) Sarosy. John was a Marine Corp veteran serving during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart and many commendations. John worked as a heavy equipment operator and batch plant operator. He retired from Carr Bros. in 2013. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Fairport Harbor V.F.W. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, gardening, and never missed an OSU game, but his greatest joy was being a Papa to his 7 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Karen (nee: Mangino) Sarosy; children, Melissa (Michael) Mlakar, Chris (Kim) Sarosy, and Jennifer McGuinness; grandchildren, Nicholas, Michalene, Alexander, Annie, Jack, Hannah, and Lauren; siblings, Peter Sarosy, Fran (Debbie) Sarosy, and Lorri Sarosy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Ginny Ann Brodnick, Rosemary Sarosy, and Liz Spence. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 on Monday, September 19, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville, Ohio 44077. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. 316 5th Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio 44077. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Painesville, Ohio. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Western Reserve at www.hospicewr.org or to Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
