Justin Gavel Obituary

Justin J. Gavel Sr., age 66, of Painesville, died Aug. 12, 2012, at his residence.
He was born April 10, 1946, in Cleveland.
A U.S Navy veteran, Mr. Gavel enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music and gambling. He was a member of American Legion Post 336 in Painesville and VFW Post 7754 in Fairport Harbor.
Survivors include his children, Bridgette (Lance) Washburn, Dawn (Ray) Adams, Justin (Leslie Erbacher) Gavel II, Kelly Hughes and John P. (Amy) Gavel; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Gavel and Pauline Myers; and brothers, Roger and Patrick Gavel.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Gavel; and parents, Francis and Marie Gavel.
A prayer service will be held 7:30 p.m. Friday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
Family will receive friends 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home before the prayer service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Gavel's memory in care of the family.

All of Justin's kids did a wonderful job caring for him. Once he said they were a lot of work but like a barrel of monkeys. Now he was a lot of work but they made as much fun with it as they could via his wake, nicely done though different, and his last lottery winning, etc. and JJ getting him to sit for a few minutes with him toward the last days, and how they are including his out of town former navy daughter into things. And his funny under the chin wave, too.
