Lawrence Timbers Obituary

Funeral Mass for Lawrence J. "Larry" Timbers, 94, of Willoughby, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Larry passed away Nov. 26, 2022, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland. He was born April 9, 1928, in Cleveland. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Larry was a graduate of Cathedral Latin H.S. and Cleveland State University, and a member of the Painesville Elks Lodge, Gunny Hall in Mentor and Willoughby Eagles Aerie 2300. Larry was the beloved husband of Martha (nee Faulkes) Vogt Timbers; loving father of Amy (Bill) Timbers Kammerer, Mary Jo Timbers (Paul Mrozek), Michelle Gaffney (Terry Reese), and Brenda (Chris) Balla; cherished grandfather of Katie, Emily, Mark, Cassie, Beth, Greg, Ali, Sydney (Noah), Megan and Cameron; and father-in-law of Mike Sattelmaier. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ceal (nee Vasko) Timbers; daughter, Colleen Sattelmaier; brother, Richard (Carol, dec.) Timbers; son-in-law, David Gaffney; and faithful Golden Retriever, Ambi. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at The Abbey of Willoughby (located on the grounds of McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home), in Willoughby. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.St.Jude.com.
