Margaret H. Lantz

1920 - 2015

Margaret H. Lantz (nee Soltes), 94, of Avon Lake, formerly of Mentor, Parma and Cleveland, passed away, Sunday, April 12, 2015. Mrs. Lantz was born May 18, 1920, in Cleveland and had lived in Avon Lake the past 14 years.
Margaret was a graduate of John Hay High School in Cleveland. She worked at the Ford Motor Company and Peterson Nuts before working and eventually retiring as a telephone operator from IBM. She was a life-long Catholic and enjoyed attending Mass at the churches in the various communities in which she lived, including St. Columbkille, Parma and St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake. In her younger days she liked to garden, both vegetables and flowers. She enjoyed ice skating, dancing, golf, tennis, swimming, and being outdoors. She participated in Senior Olympics for many years. She traveled extensively and recently had reconnected with family in Czechoslovakia and was proud of her Slovak heritage. She was also a veracious reader of all genre.
She is survived by her sister, Irene E. Mikolaj; and nieces and nephews, Susan Shaw (Robert), John Mikolaj (Louvicia), Marcia Mikolaj and Janet Taylor-Bartram (Mark Bartram). Other survivors include eight great nieces and nephews and 7 great-great nieces and nephews. Margaret is also survived by step-children, Ed Kancler (Audrey) and Mary Tsai; as well as 5 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and parents, John and Mary (nee Stopko) Soltes.
Friends may call Monday, April 20, at St. Joseph Church, 32929 Lake Rd., Avon Lake, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at the Church at 11:00 a.m. Fr. James Becherer will officiate. Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
Memorial contributions may be forwarded to Catholic Charities or the St. Joseph Church Pipe Organ Fund.
