AE1 MICHAEL D. DELANEY, Petty Officer 1st Class, USN, (Ret.), age 55, passed away in Temecula, CA on 11/10/23. Michael was the cherished son of Janet "Jan" (nee Basler) and the late Donald "Don" (wife Lorraine); dearest brother of Mary Beth Rus (husband Steven); dear uncle of Hannah, Jason, and the late Jacob Rus. former husband of Kimberly Lunardi; stepfather of Jake and Kayleigh McLeod. Preceded in death by his best friend and canine companion, Gemma. Michael was a decorated U.S. Navy Veteran recently retired on 09/30/23. Michael received many medals and commendations in his 21 years of service. Michael was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 24, 1968, and passed away on November 10, 2023. He was a 1986 graduate of Willoughby South High School and attended Kent State University. His family describes him as intelligent, funny, and compassionate. Mike had a tremendous love for animals. Both organizations he volunteered for in the past. A mass of Christian Burial in memory of Michael will be held Saturday, December 9,2023 at 10AM at St. Noel Catholic Church. Military Honors will follow in the Narthex at St. Noel. Michael will have his remains handled by the US Navy Burial at sea.
