Nicholas Yeager Obituary

Our beloved beautiful boy, Nicholas Jordan Yeager died of a drug overdose on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.
Nick was born on November 19, 1989 in Ashtabula, Ohio. He grew up in Madison, where he lived on and off throughout his adult life. He also resided in Painesville and Cleveland.
Nick was a natural born athlete and competitor, which was fitting, since his father gave him his middle name after the legendary athlete, Michael Jordan. He spent countless hours with his team mates and friends perfecting their game and more importantly, growing their friendships that would last his lifetime. He was an honored Blue Streak that attended Madison High School, where he earned his way on the football field to a scholarship to attend Lake Erie College as a Storm athlete. He was a pure joy to watch from the sidelines or bleachers in whatever sport he was playing and he always excelled with a ball in his hand.If you were lucky enough to know Nick, you knew his smile was quick and his fashion was slick. He loved to sing with his annoying voice, and he once earned twenty bucks to sing the national anthem on the plane to Cancun on a family vacation. He supplied never ending hugs to his mom and loved long involved sports arguments with his dad. He lit up the lives of his family and friends, but it was his four-year-old son, Kade that lit up his. When he was with Kade, all was right in his world.
Although his adult life was full of more struggle than his early years, he never lost sight of his pursuit of a happy and healthy life. He fought hard to regain his footing when he faltered and he, nor those who loved him and supported him, never lost hope.
Nick was adored by his son, Kade Micheal Yeager; his parents; Michael and Laura Yeager; his sisters, Erika Costello and Kayleigh Yeager; and his brother-in-law, Branco Samassekou. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Sharon Sobe, Lawrence and Malinda Sobe; as well as nephews, Dominic and Colin Costello; and nieces, Sofia Costello, Aria and Alcie Samassekou. He will also be dearly missed by his aunt and uncle and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Anna Marie Yeager.
Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at the Behm Family Funeral Home, 26 River St., in Madison.
Funeral Service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow at North Madison Cemetery.

What a beautiful tribute! This so touched my heart. I didn't know your son but I know the journey. Addiction doesn't discriminate. It's cruel and heartbreaking. It tears families apart but also brings them together. May your hearts be filled with wonderful loving memories of your son and in time be filled with peace.

My sincere prayers for healing for your family and friends. Addiction is a disease that kills. You have shown such courage and love of your son by including this so that others may know and heed the warning. Your son sounds like an amazing young man who loved his family. I was the team manager for the Lake Erie College Storm football team when Nick played for Coach Mark McNellie.

Nick will be remembered for his sense of humor and his kindness towards everyone in the program. My deepest condolences go out to his family during this difficult time. This is the second loss in the past three years from a drug overdose to affect the Lake Erie College football family. I commend his family for deciding to post this fact in the obituary. Maybe this will serve as w wake up call to all struggling with drug addiction.

Thank you for your courage and humility in listing the tragic means that led to Nicholas's death. Drug addiction begins in a seemingly harmless way, but far too often, it ends in this type of tragedy that not only effects the victim, but the family and friends.

I sincerely hope that young people that may be reading this heed the warning that drugs not only ruin lives, they often kill.

I didn't know this gentleman but I know how drugs can affect not only the person but an entire family and also friends. My prayers are with all of you.
