Robert Roll Obituary
He was born May 8, 1934, in Zanesville.
Mr. Roll was vice president of sales and product manager at Hubbell Industrial Controls from 1976 until his retirement in 2004. Before that, he was the district manager for Cutler-Hammer in the Youngstown and Detroit/Saginaw offices from 1969 to 1976.
Robert was a graduate of Rosecrans High School's Class of 1952 in Zanesville. He was elected to the Rosecrans High School Hall of Fame in 2011 for the football, basketball and baseball teams that he played on from 1949 to 1952. He graduated from Ohio University with an electromechanical engineering degree in 1956. He graduated from Lake Erie College with a master's of business administration degree in 1984.
Mr. Roll was an Air Force captain of Air Defense Command 771st Radar Squadron, Cape Charles, Virginia, from 1956 to 1959.
Robert was a board member of Moveable Structures (M.S.M.B.), Engineering Society of Lift Bridges from 2004 to 2010. He was an avid sports fan and season ticket holder for the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Ohio State football. He was a former member of Mentor Heisley Racquet Club, Legend Lakes Country Club, Chardon and Heritage Springs Country Club, Trinity, Fla. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Concord, and St. Peter the Great Church in Trinity, Fla.
Robert loved his family and friends dearly and he leaves behind his loving wife of 23 years, Janice M. (Evans) Roberts Roll; children, Rebecca Roll of Mentor, Lynn (Victor) Hanna of Athens, Robert C. ""Chip"" (Mary) Roll III of San Jose, Calif., Virginia ""Ginger"" (Brad) Townson of Eastlake, Elizabeth ""Lisa"" (Jerry) Kayser of Newbury and James K. (Lisa) Roberts of St. Charles, Ill.; grandchildren, Claudia Neiss, Henry and Ben Hanna, Rachel (Don) Jude, Casey Townson and James A. and Brynn Roberts; sister, Carol (Joel) Droznick of Nashua, N.H.; former wife, Betsy Roll of Middlefield; and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Sr. and Florence Roll.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
A private interment will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.

Jan- I have thought so much about you and Bob over the last several months. I am so sorry for your loss. Seeing you and Bob on our visits to Dad and Lisa was always a highlight. I will remember him as always being so interested and up to date on what was going on with me and my family which always struck me as so nice. He was a real gentleman and I liked him very much.
