Virginia Heiss Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” Heiss, 85, of Mentor, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at Brookdale of Mentor. She was born September 25, 1935 in Rocky River, Ohio to the late William Roy and Marguerite Bowers.Ginny volunteered at West End Hospital, Girl Scout events, and was an honorary Red Cross blood donor for over 60 years. She chaperoned for the Singing Angel's European Tour. She was an accomplished artist with a BS in Art from The Cleveland Institute of Art & an illustrator at Ohio Bell & enjoyed painting portraits & animals, liked nature, bowling, roller skating, selling Avon, travel, & outings with husband, family & friends. She sang in the Lakeland Civic Chorus & the Advent church choir in Mentor.Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Donald Heiss; children, Steven (fiancée, Sheila Lada) Heiss and Sheryl Heiss; grandchildren, Shawn (Stacy) Heiss and Seth Schwadron and great-granddaughter, Eleanor Heiss.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Advent Lutheran Church, 7985 Munson Rd., Mentor, Ohio 44060. A private family burial will take place in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ginny’s name may be made to Advent Lutheran Church.Arrangements entrusted to the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.Offer condolences at www.brunners.com
